LIDDLE (NEVADA)BANGRA FUSION KAMI LIDDLE from Reno, Nevada was a guest dancer for Belly Dance Superstars Tribal Desert Roses, has studied dance throughout her life, & in TRIBAL since 1998, creating her own unique form of Tribal Fusion, utilizing her past dance experience in Jazz and Hip Hop dance as well as her new passion, Bhangra dance. KAMI is much on demand teaching and performing on the Tribals festival. KAMI has earned a Minor in Dance,
studying technique, choreography and teaching styles, & pursuing her degree
in Fine Art and teaching class at the University of Nevada Reno. Bhangra has gained increased popularity in the West and is a new energetic element of mainstream dance music. KAMI will share some of the basic Bhangra movements and put them together into short combos, will add some sharp hip movements and overlaying isolations to these combos to create a Bhangra/Belly dance fusion. This dance is energetic and high impact, so be prepared to sweat! |
KAMILLE
is the founder and director of RockaBelly
Dance Company in San Francisco. She began her dance in 1993 in New York,
learning from Anahid
Sofian & was part of the Sofian Dance Co. and in NYC also she followed the
teachings of Elena Lentini.
Since KAMILLE moved to San Francisco, she has rounded out her style,
studying with Suhaila Salimpour and Jill Parker. Kamille is excited to
explore and express herself and her interests in Rockabelly. She will be
performing w/
MARLI LYNN (SF) Kamille will share the Karshilama, the 9/8 rhythm in combinations using a variety of moves from the nightclubs to Sulekule, the Gypsy quarter in Istanbul for Skirt and Zill patterns. You can use the dance for solo and with partners. |
| SRI TARASITA (RAKADU GYPSY)-(KY) STORYTELLING THROUGH DANCE  SRI TARASITA (aka Teresa Tomb) is the artistic director for Rakadu Gypsy and owner of Mecca Live Studio & Gallery in Lexington, KY. TARASITA has a varied background in the fields of dance and performance art that influences her work with Rakadu. Her background includes work in theater, music, dance forms including, belly dance, Classical Indian and Indian Folk dance, Flamenco, West African and Afro-Caribbean, and modern and Ancient Hula. In 1999, she co-founded the performance art series RE: Arrangements which still runs today and has featured many local and national performance artists. TARASITA believes that in all cultures
the beauty and mystery of life is best expressed through the essence of
dance. The dancer will learn how to fuse simple theater techniques (including use of stage and space), with movements and gestures drawing from aspects of Tribal Style Belly Dance and Indian Kathak. A short dance piece will be taught using these principles. |
